Inscription. March 12, 1999. On this day two Hope natives visited the Hope Visitor Center and museum. President William Jefferson Clinton, in town to dedicate his restored birthplace house, was escorted through the center by life-long friend Thomas Franklin McCarty Jr. (Mack), his former White House Chief of Staff.
