1. Where Farmington Began Marker
Inscription. "On March 8, 1824, five men, led by Arthur Power, a Quaker from Farmington, New York, came into this area. They felled the first tree of the first clearing a short distance due east from this point "on the bank of a small run" which can still be seen. They built the first log cabin near this spot. The permanent village, now the 2 ½ square miles of the City of Farmington was established within six months, about 1 ½ south of here along the Shiawasee Trail. In 1973 the remaining 33 ½ square miles of the original township area was incorporated into the City of Farmington Hills."
