Inscription. Olive Hill is the birthplace of Tom T. Hall. Born to Reverend Virgil L. and Della Lena Hall, he used his god-given talents to become famed as one of America's balladeers, telling in music form the story of the common folk and the daily happenings which color their lives. A recording artist of international stature, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and a country music songwriter/performer of note, he never forgot that he came from the soil and always treated his fellowman as friend and neighbor.
