Northwestern College was for many years the pastoral training college for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). In 1995, Northwestern College was amalgamated with its "sister" college, Dr. Martin Luther College (DMLC) in New Ulm, MN. This marker must have been erected prior to 1995, since it refers to Northwestern College still existing at "its present site".
