Inscription. “The First Family of Country Music,” They switched emphasis from hillbilly instrumentals to harmony vocals, made scores of standard country music classics, and made their “CarterLick” guitar-playing the dominant technique for decades. The first group inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1970, they also earned a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2005 and Grammy Hall of Fame songwriting recognition in 1998.
