1. William Clark Marker
Inscription. Clark shared command of the team from 1803-05 that was the first overland expedition undertaken by the U.S. to the Pacific Ocean. The "Voyage of Discovery" ordered by President Thomas Jefferson explored routes across America's new territories of the Louisiana Purchase. Clark also led recordkeeping duties including the maps he created for the parties route. Clark was responsible for publication of the expedition's journals.
