The Eldean Bridge
has been designated a
National Historic Landmark
Built in 1860, the Eldean bridge possesses national significance as an excellent example of covered bridge construction. Its span is a rare surviving Long Truss, a highly significant nineteenth-century timber truss type, the Eldean Bridge is the most structurally intact of less than a dozen surviving Long Truss covered bridges in the United States.
