is very little to be found on Sgt. Kidd. According to "The New York Line - New York In The Revolution" by Berthold Fernow, his entry as part of the First Regiment, First Company reads: “Kidd, Alex., Serg't, as Corp'l Nov. 28, '76, war; Serg't Aug. 7, '77, Priv. in '79, Serg't Nov. 80, Priv. June, '82. E. M. R.”
As for his life, Ancestry records: “Born in Wallkill, Ulster, New York, USA on 25 Jun 1746 to Robert Andrew Kidd and Martha Taylor. Alexander Kidd married Keziah Ann Brundage and had 2 children. He passed away on 10 Jun 1815 in Governor's Island, Nassau (sic), New York, USA.”
There is no explanation for what this marker is doing here - it's doubtful that this would be his gravesite.
