1. Creighton's Store Marker
Inscription. Established in the early 1900s, Creighton & Sons General Store was owned and operated by three generations. It was a Sears building delivered to Coalmont on the “Mountain Goat” train and assembled on site. The first storekeeper was William “Pappy” Creighton, who operated the store until his death in 1945. His son Bob ran the store until 1975. Bob's son Sam managed the store until 2012. The proprietors never sold tobacco or alcohol products. Many mountain people sitting around the pot-bellied stove were celebrated and enriched for almost a century at Creighton's & Sons General Store.
