The Marine Corps League
The Marine Corps League was chartered by an act of the 75th Congress of the United States on 4 August 1937 and was approved by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Major General John A. Lejeune was the first honorary National Commandant.
Its purpose is to preserve the traditions and promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps; to band together those who are currently serving and those who were honorably discharged from service in the Corps; to hold sacred the memory of the men and women who have given their lives in service to their nation; to maintain true allegiance to the principles of this nation and to its institutions; to create a bond of comradeship between those in the service and those who have returned to civilian life; and to render assistance to all Marines, Marine veterans, FMF Corpsmen, and their widows and orphans.
