1. Family brings Cape Breton war hero home. Brendan MacDonald, of Sydney, was among those in attendance at the unveiling and said it was nice to gather as a family to honour his great-uncle. "He left (Cape Breton) in 1915 and he died in 1961 and he only came back to Cape Breton once, he was only able to get home once, so it was kind of a neat feeling to sort of bring him back home, in a way, to his native land," he said. 2. Peter Macdonald (Wikipedia). MacDonald held a number of positions within the parliamentary Conservative Party including holding the chair of the Imperial Affairs Committee for more than 20 years. He also took part in a number of inter-parliamentary bodies, and was vice-chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (British Group) in 1945–1947.
