Who was Daniel Boone?
Many picture Daniel Boone as a famous Kentucky pioneer and hunter. While this was certainly true, Boone participated in many other ventures throughout his long life. He was a blacksmith, land surveyor, business man, soldier, and statesman. He was the sixth oldest of eleven bothers and sisters, husband to Rebecca Bryan, father to ten children, and grandfather to more than sixty children.

Daniel Boone journeyed as far as modern day eastern Kansas, paving the way for future westward explorers like Lewis and Clark. In 1820, Daniel Boone passed away in Saint Charles County, Missouri at the home of his son, Nathaniel Boone. Today, Daniel remains an example of pioneer strength, resolve and mankind's pursuit of opportunity.
