Regarding Silvas Adobe. The adobe was built by Juanerio Indians during the establishment of the Mission by Fr. J. Serra in 1776.
Jose Maria Silvas married Lucarda Yorba in 1850. Jose's father-in-law Domingo Yorba gave the couple the adobe as a wedding gift.
The Jose Maria Silvas adobe was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Los Rios Street Historic District in 1983. The adobe is also in the San Juan Capistrano Inventory of Historical and Cultural Landmarks, and the California Inventory of Historic Resources.
When restoration is completed, the Silvas Adobe will house a collection of Juanerio Indian artifacts for the public to view.
