Regarding Estudillo Mansion. The mansion was built in 1885 by Francisco Estudillo. It is all that remains of a 35,000-acre Mexican land grant given to his father, Jose Antonio Estudillo, in 1842. The father was in charge of the San Luis Rey mission which the region belonged to until 1850. A twin mansion built on Soboba Road by brother Jose Antonio Estudillo had been abandoned for over 50 years and was demolished in 2014. The Estudillo Mansion is open to the public every Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
