Regarding Samuel-Novarro House. The house is a historic Mayan Revival home designed by Lloyd Wright in 1928. The four-level residence was integrated into the hillside and is distinguished by its smooth concrete surfaces and oxidized copper accents.
Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed the 2,700-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom home for silent film star Ramon Novarro's manager, Louis Samuel. When Novarro discovered that Samuel had embezzled funds from him to pay for the house, Novarro quietly assumed ownership of it in 1931, and lived there until the late 1930s. He commissioned Wright to expand the interior as well as the garden, adding a bedroom, music room, and bedroom suite. A number of Hollywood elite have lived in the house, including composer Leonard Bernstein and actress Diane Keaton.
