325th Fighter Group
317th, 318th and 319th Fighter Squadrons
— USAAF —
After training in P-40s, the group departed for combat in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations in January, 1943. Successively flying P-40s, P-47s and P-51s, the 325th completed 567 missions before the end of the war in Europe.
The 317th, 318th and 319th [F]ighter [S]quadrons engaged in fighter sweeps, dive bombing and bomber escort missions. The group received two Distinguished Unit Citations and 27 individual pilots were designated "Aces."
The surviving members of the 325th dedicate this plaque to our companions who lost their lives in achieving this outstanding record.
