. An architectural description of the house can be found on page 24:
The 2-story, wood frame Eastham-Leavell House with its projecting front ell is notable for the handsome scroll brackets at the cornice and under the eaves. The ca. 1890-1900 house, which has a front ell and irregular plan, is a characteristic late nineteenth-century example of a substantial family house on Culpeper’s East Street. The house has two large interior chimneys, and retains several fireplaces with original mantels. The front south room has a marble horseshoe-arched metal trimmed opening to the firebox opening; there are also original plain pine architraves and shelves with simple pilasters. The interior stairs have been moved. Once owned by Dr. Granville Eastham, the house was previously the residence of the Byrd Stewart Leavell family for many years.
