1. "Here's Howe" Marker

Inscription.

In the 1920's, George J. Howe owned a grocery store. He roasted and ground coffee in the window and gave 1 free pound with a $10 grocery purchase. Later focusing on coffee roasting and delivery, the name "Here's Howe" came from the grocers shouting "Howe's Here!" when the Model T arrived.

In 1927 the George J. Howe Company incorporated and in 1931 moved to a new building on West Main Street. With modern equipment, the product line grew under the name of "Daily Delight," adding fresh roasted peanuts and cashews. In 1948 "Here's Howe" began bagging and candy distribution.
