1. Benton County Courthouse Marker
Inscription. Benton County was established in 1870 and was formed from portions of Tippah and Marshall counties. Lewis J. McDonald donated land for Ashland, which was incorporated in 1871 and named the county seat. The Benton County Courthouse was designed by George Wilson Patrick and completed in 1873. In 2018, the courthouse building became the home of the Benton County Historical and Genealogical Society.
 
Erected 2019 by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
