1. Dinwoodey Pottery Shop Marker

Inscription. In the early settlements of Utah, the pioneer ideal was to be self-sufficient. The potter filled an important role in achieving this by helping produce the much-needed resources in the communities for kitchen, table and bedroom earthenware. Early pottery was hand thrown on a kick wheel or a treadle wheel until brick or adobe kilns were constructed. Beautiful examples of early Utah pottery can still be found in museums and antique shops.
