Inscription. Immaculate Conception Church was built in 1866 on land purchased for $600 from Henry Schumacher in 1863. The church was dedicated December 12, 1867by Bishop Juncker. The building was remodeled in 1904, and the improvement included the installation of an electric generator which powered the tower clock and provided lighting on the main altar. The size of the church was doubled in 1909 with an addition that also include a brick nave. Because of the difference in the color of the brick, it was necessary to stucco the exterior which gave it the appearance of stone, but another renovation brought the return of the red brick which you see today.
