Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. Pintor español nacido en Fuendetodos, Provincia de Zaragoza. Su primera obra de importancia fue la decoración al fresco de la iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Pilar, en Zaragoza. En 1789 fue nombrado "Pintor de Camara del Rey,” por su actividad como retratista de la alta sociedad, que siempre combino con la elaboracion de cuadros de ambiente pintoresco, de locura y fanatismo, de supersticiones o de opresion. Entre sus obras mas famosas destacan "Los Fusilamientos del 2 y 3 de Mayo de 1808", "La Maja Desnuda", "La Familia de Carlos IV" y "Los Caprichos”.

Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. Spanish painter born in Fuendetodos, Province of Zaragoza. His first important work was the fresco decoration of the church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar, in Zaragoza. In 1789 he was named "Painter of the King’s Chambers," for his activity as a high society portrait painter, which he always combined with the elaboration of paintings of picturesque landscapes, madness and fanaticism, superstitions or oppression. Among his most famous works are "The Second and Third of May, 1808", "La Maja Desnuda", "The Family of Carlos IV" and "Los Caprichos".
