Ellaville High School. Ellaville History Wall. This frame building was the school for the African-American students in Ellaville until 1951, when the State Department of Education conducted a study that recommended that all Black Schools in Schley County be consolidated. Located on Spivey Street and Poplar Circle, the building was used as a community center as well as a school. It was a school until 1957 when the John H. Lewis School was built. The school building was demolished sometime after that. Commissioned in memory of Mrs. Ida Lou Greene-Johnson (class of 1941) by her daughter, Freida Johnson-Jones; Commissioner Rosa Greene Smith Thompson (class of 1947) by her daughter Angeli Sharon Smith; Sammie Black Sr., with love, by Cora, Elaine, Sammie Jr., and family; Luther and Louise Johnson and Salena Greene by Martha Johnson-Howard. Additional donations by Douglas Tatum, Clarence White, Evelyn Greene-Haynes, Maggarie K. McCluster, Louis King Jr., Horace Cottle, Dennis Moore, P. Calvin Hill, and Charlamange Brown. .
