Inscription.
Gill Drug Company was a consolidation of Jordan Drug Store and Wilson Drug Company. Jordan Drug Store was established In 1900 on the NE corner of Broad and Oglethorpe Streets. In 1932 Clark Gill and Paul Gill purchased the business from Mr. E. Roney Jordan and Dr. John Randolph Jordan Sr., who asked that they retain the Jordan name. In 1935 Clark sold his interest to Paul, who then purchased Wilson Drug Company in 1961 and consolidated the two pharmacies into the Wilson storefront, which is the present location of Gill Drug Company. The store was originally Bridges and Dixon Druggist as shown above. At one time it was Bridges and Hogg's Drug Store. Then Dr. Benjamin Lindslay Bridges and Dr. Thomas Watson Wilson operated the Bridges and Wilson Drug Store until Dr. Wilson bought out Dr. Bridges and renamed it Wilson Drug Company. For a few years the store was the Wilson-Sullins Drug Company. Commissioned by Paula Gill Williams in memory of her father, Paul Leon Gill.
