Inscription. These buildings were arranged in a semicircle as indicated by these old plaques. St. Mary's Chapel, situated this side of Stedman Hall, had been completed in 1892, also there was a laundry and heating plant just back and right of the Smith Cottage. A barn and dairy were behind Bronson Hall. This old bell was rung to call everyone to church or home. The whole area including the farm and pasture consisted of approximately 110 acres and accommodated up to 118 children. From 1887 until closing in 1969, this was home for over 1200 orphans.
