1. Old Town Fact Marker
Inscription. Friendship College founded Rock Hill's first library for blacks, located in a small room at Emmett Scott School, around 1933. The library was moved near this location in December 1944 and was renamed the Palmetto Branch of the Rock Hill Library. The Palmetto Branch Library was closed following passage of the Civil Rights act of 1964 which enabled blacks to use the main branch of the library.
