Downtown in Boston in Suffolk County, Massachusetts — The American Northeast (New England)
Boston Church of the New Jerusalem (Swedenborgian)
Established 1818
A large cathedral, mother church of other local Swedenborgian Societies, stood on this present site from 1845-1963. The present complex was dedicated as a place of worship in 1966.
The Christianity of this church is guided by the theological concepts of Emanuel Swedenborg, 18th century Scientist, Philosopher and Theologian. We believe the Lord is actively renewing Christianity, as foretold in the revelation of John, 'I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem.' We believe the three essentials of religion to be an acknowledgment of the Divine, the holiness of the Words and life according to one's religion.
