508th Parachute Infantry Regiment
Camp Blanding Museum & Memorial Park
Activated at Camp Blanding Florida on 20 October 1942, they were later attached to the 82nd Airborne Division and participated in the parachute assaults into Normandy on June 6, 1944 and into Holland on 17 September 1944. They fought in the Ardennes in December 1944 and in the Rhineland in May 1945. On V-E Day they were chosen as the Honor Guard for Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces. Four years, one month and four days after they came into existence they passed onto history at Camp Kilmer N.J. on 24 November 1946.
