Site of Lyndon's First Town Meeting
July 4, 1791
On July 4, Elder Philemon Hines moderated the inaugural community meeting, with Daniel Cahoon selected as town clerk. Reniff, Cahoon, and James Spooner were elected as selectmen and listers. Voters chose Nehemiah Tucker as treasurer and Nathan Hines as constable/collector. Surveyors were picked to record the boundaries of the towns six districts, which were set by the selectmen.
Town meetings were held at Reniffs until March 7, 1796, with subsequent meetings at the dwelling of Nathaniel Jenks.
