2. 1945 NFL Championship Game: Washington Redskins @ Cleveland Rams. The forecast for Sunday called for "cloudy, windy, cold and light snow" with the temperature "below 15°." However, the thermometer dropped to 3° at midnight Saturday with every prospect of falling even further by dawn. Cleveland's 82,000-seat Municipal Stadium, "The Mistake by the Lake," would receive the brunt of any Arctic blasts. When the final gun sounded, some of the more jubilant fans ripped up a goal post, college fashion. The Rams were more subdued than previous champions. One player spoke for everyone. Who wants to celebrate? I just want to defrost. (Submitted on July 21, 2021, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
