1. Colonel Conger House Marker
Inscription. Colonel Everton J. Conger, who commanded the troops capturing, Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, built this house in 1871. He practiced law in Carmi, became a Federal judge in Montana Territory, and later moved to Hawaii where he was an advisor to Queen Liliuokalani. This house was remodeled in 1941.
 
Erected 1965 by White County Historical Society and the Illinois State Historical Society.
