1. Hawkins Field Terminal Marker
Inscription. Originally constructed in 1936 by the WPA and designed by the Jackson firm of Hull and Drummond, the Hawkins Field Terminal was enlarged in 1941 and expanded again in the mid-1950s. Hawkins Field was created as the Jackson Municipal Airport in 1928 and remained the city's commercial aviation hub until 1963. During World War II, Hawkins Field served as the Jackson Army Air Base and the primary training facility for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The Hawkins Field Terminal building was listed in the National Register in 2020.
