Inscription.
On September 25, 1970. Roy Burkett Field was officially dedicated. Once the site of a small lake, Roy Burkett Field wasn't the largest or fanciest football stadium in Mississippi. But it was the home of the Clinton Arrows and you won't find another high school stadium more storied or beloved than Roy Burkett Field, whose namesake built his Arrows teams on rock-hard toughness and discipline.

Coach Roy Burkett was hired to become Clinton High School's 11th head football coach in April 1956. The second winningest coach in Arrows history, Burkett compiled a 92-69-2 record in 16 seasons. The Columbia native and former World War II tank commander won North Little Dixie Conference titles in 1960, 1961 and 1971. In addition to his head coaching duties, Burkett also was a well-respected educator who taught a full-load of academic classes at CHS. At various

times during his tenure, Burkett also served as athletics director and coached Arrows baseball and track and field.

In 1985, Roy Burkett was inducted into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame.
