Inscription.
The Three Sycamore Trees
were planted on the Ohio River bank by George Nye shortly after the close of WWI, as a memorial for the first three soldiers from Meigs County killed in WWI.
Pvt McKinley (Kinney) Thompson of Minersville 2/2/1897 - 9/15/1918
Pvt. Lewis E. Daniels of Chester 8/31/1888 - 8/23/1918
Pvt. Charles V. Baumgardner of Pomeroy 4/11/1889 - 10/20/1918
The name markers and one tree have been gone for several years.
 
Erected 2020 by Meigs County Historical Society and the Middleport-Pomeroy Rotary Club.
