1. James Edwin Campbell Marker
Inscription. Principal Campbell, 1892-1894, successfully led West Virginia Colored Institute through its infancy. Admission standards were established, enrollment doubled, teacher and military training were made an important part of the curriculum, the first school paper was established, and an excellent lecture-recital series was started.
