1. World War I (1914-1918) Marker
Inscription. Thousands of black Floridians served their country during the First World War in the U.S. Army and Navy. They performed a variety of functions from stevedores to combat engineers, infantry to sailors, and in a number of medical roles.

Several black infantry regiments fought on the Western Front. These regiments were the 368th, 369th, 370th, 371st, and 372nd. Black Floridians were represented in each of these regiments and many gave their lives during the war.
