Inscription. Built by: Dr. Frederick Bates Jr. and Lavinia Meredith Bates, Original location: Directly across Olive Blvd. from Faust Park. Facts . Frederick Bates Jr. was the youngest son Frederick Bates, second governor of the state of Missouri.. After Frederick Bates Jr.'s death his wife, Lavinia, married Samuel Conway.. Frederick attended 1.5 years of medical school at St. Louis Medical College { now part of Washington University].. The kitchen located behind the Conway House , is the Warmbrodt kitchen originally located in Mehlville. Donated by Mrs. Mary Plant Faust
