Inscription. Near this spot stands The Pringle Tree named for John and Samuel Pringle, the first settlers of this section of West Virginia who lived in a hollow sycamore tree 1764–1767.
 
Erected 1922 by Daughters of the American Revolution, Elizabeth Zane Chapter, Buckhannon, West Virginia.
