1. Russellville Marker
Inscription. Site of parish site of Claiborne Parish from soon after the parish's creation in 1828 until 1836. First parish jail and courthouse constructed 350 yards east of marker. Named for Samuel Russell who donated the land.
 
Erected 2011 by Claiborne Parish Police Jury with the help of private donations.

1. Russellville Land
The Russellville site is about 350 yds east of the marker, in the woods across the road. The land where the site is located belonged to my grandfather, George Emmett Atkins, and remains in his family today. I have paperwork and photos from the dedication day with the DAR representatives, as well as G.E. Atkins’ 3 adult children, one being my father.
