Inscription. This is the 1000th Walgreen Drugstore. Walgreen Co. was founded in 1901 on Chicago’s South Side by Charles L. Walgreen, Sr. A replica of the original store can be seen at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, Illinois.
