Inscription.

We the people of Union County and the United States of America are profoundly grateful for the sacrifices made by the men and women who fought, were wounded and died in the Vietnam War. These brave men and women will be respectfully remembered for all time by those who benefited from their service to their nation and to their role in bringing about the end of Communism in much of the world. The 58,193 Americans who died on the battlefields of Vietnam did not die in vain. They will be remembered as ordinary people who performed an extraordinary task in the cause of freedom.
