On this site in 1852 the former Cottage Hotel opened for business owned by a Mr. Flint. Later, being part of the Calderwood Family holdings it was sold to Dominico and Maria Costa in 1920. By 1935 William T. Costa, Sr. and Joseph Caplan had est. a fruit market in the building then owned by William and Almina Costa
The market continued there until destroyed by fire in 1946 at which time the present store was built being remodeled in 1982 by the Dale Wells Const. Co.
