1. Kutzner Block Marker
Inscription.
Brothers Charles and Richard Kutzner built this stately brick and sandstone structure in 1904 to house their Tonsorial Parlor, a successful barber shop that was formerly located in downtown Seattle. The Kutzners operated their business out of the ground floor of this building until 1910. They also established the Queen Hotel on the upper floors. In 1912 J.W. Harvey opened the Harvey Variety Co., Notions, Etc. here, which “supplied everybody everything they needed from a safety pin to a Ford car.”
