Inscription.
This magnificent 2,800-square-foot green house was dedicated in memory of Staten Island native and community leader Carl Grillo. He was an avid gardener who received recognition and awards for his home garden. The Glass House's three-zone heating system creates arid, tropical and temperate conditions that allow the creation of unique horticultural displays year-round. At different times of the year, one can find a multitude of rare and exquisite plants, including bamboo, annuals and perennials.

Did you know?
The Pandanus utilis or Screw Pine grows in the Glass House. This tropical evergreen tree is not usually seen in the Northeast since it is native to Madagascar, the Seychelles, and Mauritius.

Erected by Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden.
