Inscription. Built as the plantation home of Andrew Carpenter and family. This structure also served as a stagecoach stop on the Charlotte Lincolnton Road. "Happy Home” plantation continued as a sharecropping farm after slavery was abolished.
 
Erected by Gaston County Historic Preservation Committee.
