1. Schneider House Marker
Inscription. This house, originally belonging to the Charles Schneider family, was built in approximately 1864. Mr. Schneider was one of Columbia's early citizens who operated a livery stable and undertaking parlor at this location. Note the German architecture called " Fach werk," meaning expert work under the eaves. Looking up to the second floor, notice the small eyebrow windows which were used , mainly for light and air.
