The cornerstone of the original church building on the present site of the St. Cyril's of Turau Cathedral was laid in 1850 by the congregation of the St. Peter's Episcopalian Church.
In 1857 that building was sold to the Reformed Presbyterian Church and in 1863 resold to the United Presbyterian Church.
The cornerstone of the present Cathedral building was laid by the congregation of the Presbyterian Church in 1902.
Subsequently it was sold to a Baptist congregation from which it was bought in 1957 by the St. Cyril's of Turau Parish of the Belarusan Autocephalous Orthodox Church and became at first the seat of the episcopal and then metropolitan see of the Belarusan Autocephalous Orthodox Church and thus a cathedral.
