The Ogden Codman Jr House. 7 East 96th Street. This 1912-13 house was designed by Ogden Codman, Jr., a significant American architect and interior designer who created elegant structures noted for their human scale and lack of excessive opulence. One of three family residences he designed on East 96th Street, 7 East 96th Street was used for Codman's own use. The building's distinguished design recalls the 18th century French Renaissance architecture of Paris, and features wrought-iron balconies, dormer windows, and a porte cochere leading to a courtyard and garage. Designated in 1967.
