Regarding Robert Waugh House. Waugh, a Scotland native, emigrated to the United States in 1850 and settled in Sparland three years later. He built and moved into the house, one of only 10 octagon houses remaining in Illinois and the only one made of brick, in 1887 and lived there until his death in 1913.
