1. Leonidas Harold "L.H." Jones Marker
Inscription.  L.H. Jones was a leader and educator in Surry County for over 45 years. He served as the only principal of J.J. Jones High School during its 30-year existence between 1936 and 1966. The school was named after his father who worked as a teacher and principal for 33 years. Jones helped prepare African American students with life skills through education with an emphasis on strong work ethic. He served on many organizations, most notably he was one of the first African Americans to be named on the North Carolina Board of Elections.
